União Methodist School is a reference in the education of leaders in the border region of the state of Rio Grande do Sul. Modernization is constantly sought, without losing the school’s history and tradition.

From preschool years to high school, the school carries out an educational project within an inclusive and interdisciplinary perspective, giving priority to citizenship development among children and adolescents.

The school’s campus offers spaces and infrastructure which allow for sporting activities and artistic and cultural events.

Early Childhood Education

Our aim at União during this age is to provide opportunities for the psychosocial, physical and intellectual development of our students. Experiences lived out by the students serve as a starting point, thus making manifestations of autonomy, critical sense, cooperation and creativity possible. The student’s knowledge and his or her socio-cultural context are taken into account in order to develop multiple intelligences in a meaningful way.

Our work with children starts at three years of age. Our pedagogical proposal is based on the Pedagogy of Projects because we believe that this is the best way to contemplate the need to learn constantly, to learn to learn, to know how to think, to construct a broad view of the scientific universe and to acquire a posture of investigation when faced with facts.

Through projects, creative and playful experiences are made possible. Games, toys and play are the tools which allow the student to be challenged to build, to modify, to reconstruct, to diversify and to coordinate his or her cognitive schemes, thus building knowledge about the world.

Elementary and Middle School (1st to 8th Grade)

União’s educational goal at this level is to lead students to develop meaningful learning situations which consider their socio-cultural and political situation. In this way, the development of learning capacity and of autonomy is made possible, in addition to the gradual dominion of knowledge and abilities and the understanding of the cultural and social environment. Based on the principles of alterity, responsibility, solidarity, justice and respect for the common good, values and attitudes are permanently constructed.

High School

At this educational level, União is committed to providing youth with the experience of an educational process that allows a better understanding of life and of the society in which these youth find themselves. This is done in order to construct, together with others, a liberating perspective that provides the opportunity of a practice which is coherent with the idea of the Kingdom of God. União’s objective is to contribute to the education of the individual as a citizen with rights and responsibilities.
